Zane, Skeeter loved the Ray Thompson 156 gr gas checked bullet & probably slept with that mould under his pillow because he used it for everything from deer & antelope down to Javelina. If you can pick your shot on hogs it will work just fine, if the hog has something to say about the angle you will want the 180 gr. Most likely a solid where you can break shoulders, but a small HP will probably be just fine unless it's a really big hog. The 357 deserves more credit than it receives but the big guns get most of the credit. The 158 gr bullets are usually just fine on deer, especially if the hunter is shooting from a stand & can pick his shot angle. If you need some to try send me an address. Silcott, that's an impressive number of deer & just goes to show what a 357 will do will good bullets. You don't say if they are cast or jacketed but it's still a fine report on the 357, good job! I'm headed out right now to shoot one of my OM's using some plain base 156 gr HP's in 38 special brass. I seldom use 357 brass unless I'm mad at something. Dick Dick, thanks for the reply! will send you a PM later.

One of my first hunting pistols was a 6 inch Security Six with a no drill scope mount and 2X Nichols scope, which despite being a no-name brand is a good optic. Badger grips and an action job at home made it an easy gun to shoot well.
If you have any desire to scope it, I can dig out the mount. The gun is back to iron sights with a Fermin/RW rear insert.
Otherwise I think you're on the right track with 158+ bullets, maybe 140 monometal, and certainly not much left on the table with a 180 XTP or similar. Anymore it's about what's in stock.
You could always give the Martin/Bradshaw Max bullet a try, especially if anyone drops them with a hollow point.

I’d take you up on that if mine had a longer barrel. mine’s one of the 4” models. thinking about turning it into a ranch carry gun. did some light metal work (removed warning label, reshaped the front sight base, top strap and ejector rod underlug.) gonna make a Patridge front sight, possibly a Bowen rear, and I’ve started on a set of Jordan inspired grips. and i believe you might be right, a heavier cast hollow point might be perfect.

My Sixes all love the Keith bullet in mag brass trimmed to 1.250" on H-110.

158 XTPs in my revolvers work great! I prefer to keep my shots 100yds or less. My farthest was 150yds.
