I thought it was just a saying, but a VERY kind feller on another board sent me 50 Starline 45 Cowboy Special brass to play with.  Very interesting, seems custom made for my short Howells conversion cylinder - any heard of this or have any loading data whatsoever? Apparently, it is a factory produced brass, uses both 45 Colt and 45 ACP dies to load it correctly. |

Starline makes it, used mostly for Cowboy Action Shooting, since they use such light loads. Been around for awhile, doubt 45 colt dies will work, 45 acp and 45 Auto Rim (AR). 45AR will have a roll crimp. It's a 45 colt super short of sorts. Several fellas here use it to be able to roll crimp a cast bullet in. Can achieve pretty incredible power from the small case with modern powders.

It uses 45acp data. I load it like a 45Super for the Blackhawk.

What dies do you use? It seems weird to buy a complete setup for 50 brass, but hey...why not? Does anyone have any links to load data - I am assuming light/standard pressure 45 Colt loads might be appropriate, but not 100% sure Guess I shoulda just read the post above completely - 45 ACP load data, got it.

I use a set of RCBS 45AR dies. Before I got those, I used a set of acp dies and a factory crimp die from Lee without any trouble. It's not loaded really hot, so there's not much recoil pulling the bullet.

It's a 45acp case internally with a 45 Colt rim on it.

I use a 45 colt sizing die, and 45 acp dies for the rest.

Well I'll tell you what I have in a die set I have no use for. At one time Hornady made a set of dies called 45acp, 45AR, 45Colt. They are practically brand new as I only used them to to check them out. Sounds like they be the Cat's meow for the 45 Special. Make me an offer.
