By the price I would guess probably 25yrs or so I’m betting 20 years older than that, I started loading in the mid 80s and the primers boxes had evolved to a different design then. I remember in high school loading for a buddies 22/250 and they had some “old” primers we were using up that came in those boxes. If kept dry I bet they work just fine. I was given a foot locker of old reloading components a few years back that was slightly dated (like a box of Nosler Partitions that are from the first 1-2 years of production old!) and the primer worked fine for casual loads. Didn’t really run that ammo over the chrono to see if it was any better or worse than new stuff. But it went bang and grouped fine.

We should place bets. Those primers are far older then what has been mentioned. Over 20 years ago I moved to where I'm at and primers of most brands were almost $20 a thousand. So my guess/bet is going to be 40 years ago.

I still have a few boxes of old CCI primers from when I worked in a store in Texas that are marked $.37 per hundred, this was in the late 60's. But I have almost a full brick of Winchesters that are older than that, they are in wooden trays, the whole box is wood. Not sure if they are pistol or rifle.

When I first moved to TN 20 years ago I was buying primers from Wideners, which was 30 miles from me, for under $30 a 100. Then American name brand when higher so I started buying Wolf primers. I've used Wolf primers for 20 years and can't find a dang thing wrong with them. Done a lot of good shooting with them. Now look where primers are!!

Minimum of 45 years ago. I remember paying $.99 per 100 in the late 80’s when they were on sale. My guess they were packaged and sold around 1970-1975

I started reloading in the late 70's or early 80's and primers were $10.00 per thou then.

My first 44 mag loads , early '80's had primers priced like Gnappi mentions. I recall pricing out my loads, CCI 300 at a penny per, CCI 350 like 1.2 cents per. With bought cast bullets a finished round just under a dime, with factory jacketed Speer, just over a dime per bang.

Just to add, I bought and used Winchester 8 1/2-120's when I began reloading, circa 1977ish. In fact my notes on reloading from back then, specify that number. I have no idea when they switched to other nomenclature. Crash86
