David, you may have come across one of the creations of Jim Harvey, of the old Lakeville Arms. Harvey was more noted as the creator of the .22 KayChuk and KayChuk Jr. for K22 conversions. For a short while, he did a brisk business in what I believe he called Snake Getters, smoothbore 1917's. A few even had threaded barrels to accept a screw on choke. All was well until a visit from some G-man. At the conclusion of their meeting, the Snake Getters went away and Harvey didn't. This comes from the handloading column of Kent Bellah in the first generation Guns magazine, in the days of Elmer Keith's monthly columns. Bellah was a big supporter of Harvey, especially his KayChuks.

If that revolver had a 455 Webley cylinder, that cartridge is rimmed, and it was reamed out for the 45 Colt then the firing pin would work.
