I just got back into riding after a 20 year break (bought a 2016 Road King). Are there any good forums ( good like this forum) that you would recommend?

Had one I sold in January of '74 when I joined the Air Force. Since then, every time I look at what I get for my dollar, I have bought Japanese. The VTX 1800 was close, personality wise, but not HD. My taste in MCs leans hard toward VMAX type stuff. Never rode anything so fast that felt like it was moving so slow.

I've been riding since before I ever had a license
Although I've ridden many, and got pretty close to buying a few, the Harley Davidson motorcycle has somehow always been just a bit out of my reach for one reason or another
I've owned almost everything else in the meantime
My interest and desire for the American bike has always been much more for the older bikes
This spring I have a road trip planned to get out and adopt a really cool old Panhead
I'll have some work to do with it before it's restored to a running and breathing machine, but I can't wait to get the project started

I have 3 1/2 if you count the sidecar. I purchased my first Electra Glide in 1981 while I was still 19. About 500,00 miles ago. I managed to get about 14 or 15000 miles in this year - not too bad for living in a place where the riding season is maybe 6 months long, if you have long underwear!!!

I wanted to own a Victory motorcycle because it was American made and seemed a better thought out design over Harleys that tended to be constantly rehashed bikes with newer features. But, unfortunately by the time I was ready to buy one the parent company dumped Victory motorcycles for Indians. That's fine too, but Indians didn't appeal to my the way Victory motorcycles did. To each his own, as they say.
I ended up opting out for Japanese reliability and rideability of a Kawasaki KLR650 and a Suzuki Vstrom 1000. The former fit my 6'4" long legs and superb long distance riding comfort in any terrain and the latter did too, but appealed to my want of excessive power and highway cruising comfort.

At birth God saw fit to give me more personalities than I can deal with so I never saw the need to buy another one.My VTX 1800 with $800 worth of add on's kicked the shit out of a much more expensive V-ROD. My M109 is almost as fast as my V-65 Magna. My GL1800's would embarrass any Ultra Glide and damn near anything else that Harley ever made in comfort much less anything related to speed. And After 40 years of riding I have come to one simple conclusion...Not every Harley Rider is an asshole but every asshole rides a Harley.

Me and my dad on our way to Tennessee last October. I'm on my HD street glide, and he's on his Victory hammer.

But, unfortunately by the time I was ready to buy one the parent company dumped Victory motorcycles for Indians. That's fine too, but Indians didn't appeal to my the way Victory motorcycles did. I've got two Victorys and an Indian RoadMaster. The Vics both have built motors. One naturally aspirated dyno'd 145hp/155tq at the rear wheel. The belt driven super charged bike put out 180hp on E85. I took the naturally aspirated bike to the 1/4 mile drag strip and smoked a pile of 600cc crotch rockets. Off the line, I was so far out ahead, they could never catch me. But just past the lights, they would blow by me....but I got there first. LOL.
The Indian is slow. I also have a Nitrous Injected 1987 FZR1000 I bought new. It was fast in it's day, but it's nothing compared to today's bikes. I had a JATO rocket on it at one time. Never lit it.

Not every Harley Rider is an asshole but every asshole rides a Harley.
Not sure if I take offense to that! Though I have been called an A hole before!
I have a super glide sport that's been lowered and most of the chrome is removed or blacked out. I don't consider myself a "biker". As my son said, it's not my personality, I'm a hotrodder at heart. I don't frequent any forums or belong to any MCs. I'm perfectly content to ride by myself. It exists only to make me happy, and was key in beginning a relationship with a fine woman. We ride for the peace and enjoyment of riding. I guess it is what it is. Good luck in finding a forum as good as this one, that's a tall order to fill, this is a great place to be.

Not every Harley Rider is an asshole but every asshole rides a Harley. (Tongue in cheek) Pardon me Sir, I am an asshole and proud of it! Although I do not ride a cycle of any form. Now if John Deere Gators apply, then I submit but mine dont get much over 10 miles per hour unless I am late for the deer stand. Then you better duck, jump, ditch or move cause I am coming through. Doesn't seem to have the same effect saying that since I am the only one on a 400 acre ranch. I have many MANY bad stories to tell about all types of motorcycle riders, not just Harleys, but for another time. Not everyone who rides a bike is an asshole, but the assholes that ride bikes give the others a bad name. Every time I see someone riding a bike like an asshole I look for their name in the paper the next day.
