MANY YEARS AGO A Compadre AND I WERE INVITED TO A Fiesta ACROSS THE RIVER IN MEXICO, NEAR MATAMOROS, TAMPS., MEXICO, ON El Dia de San Juan (SAINT JOHN's DAY) HONORING THE LOCAL MATAMOROS "GODFATHER" AND HIS NEPHEW (HEAD OF THE GULF CARTEL AT THE TIME), WHO WERE BOTH NAMED Juan. BACK THEN THE CARTEL JUST CONCENTRATED ON DRUGS, AND KIDNAPPING, EXTORTION, PROTECTION RACKETS, FORCIBLE TAKE OVER OF PRIVATE PROPERTY, etc. WERE ALMOST UNHEARD OF AS THE CARTEL HELPED "KEEP THE PEACE/LAW AND ORDER". IT WAS A LARGE GATHERING AT A RURAL RANCH/FARM, WITH HORSE RACES, FOOD AND DRINK GALORE, AND MUSIC. IIRC, THERE WAS NO GUNFIRE, SHOTS IN THE AIR, etc. I CLEARLY RECALL ONE OF THE BODY GUARDS CARRYING A 1911 "MEXICAN STYLE" UNDER HIS Guayabera SHIRT, SERIOUS CARRY FOR SERIOUS WORK. I spent some time in southeastern Senora as a "mounted contract laborer," once again leased out by my boss at the time. As visiting Gringos we were never allowed handguns but could have rifles in our saddles. Anyway, gentlemen who I deduced to be guards placed throughout the ranch HQ always had handguns, and carried them in the way above described. I believe Skelton's description of "Mexican style" to be a perfectly accurate one, probably gleaned from personal experience. I've got to ask; how was the food at this soiree?

I’d see if Coronado Leather makes a western style vest that works for you. I have one of their leather jackets that I carry in and it works great.

The above covers almost everythng I'd suggest; especially slim stocks and the IWB holster. I carry a 1911 CCO, in assorted calibers, almost every day in either a IWB behind the right hip or a IWB at the 3:00. For trips to town I'm a Filson vest believer. They offer several versions that fit in with our rural setting no matter the weather. Nice to see someone serious about this issue as most who carry haven't a clue.

If a vest will work as Robb has mentioned,, I can attest to the top quality that Coronado offers.

Sticky Holsters make several models of this holster, which is a simple pouch without a clip or loops to hold it in place IWB. Friction of the material keeps the gun from sliding around. They are a little more secure than Mexican carry. imgur.com/a/s7osBZz

I carry a 1911 IWB, usually an alumimum alloy framed commander, strong side (right) on the point of the hip. A full size 1911 only has 3/4" more barrel than a commander, and it's typically the butt that prints, not the barrel. I alternate between a crossbreed supertuck, a galco version of the crossbreed, or a garrett leather lined kydex hybrid. All of these are tuckable holsters and they hide the 1911 very well with a tucked in, button down dress shirt bloused out just a bit above the waistline. While I may not be as svelte as I would like (6 ft, 240), I don't have any lovehandles, so point of the hip works for me. My beer gut, developed in my 30's when my metabolism changed and my behavior didn't, keeps me from being able to comfortably appendix carry.
If you like your 44 special, you might give it a shot with a simply rugged pancake with inside out straps. Note that this arrangement is not as "tuckable" as the holsters using the formed J straps mentioned above.

I live my life in jeans and a tucked in T shirt , if its cold enough a tucked in flannel in winter. I wear my holster at about 3:30 BEHIND the hip both IWB or OWB with a forward rake. An extra one size bigger unbuttoned flannel shirt in winter plus a jacket, and a lighter unbuttoned shirt in summer as a cover. Tucking the gun behind the hipbone makes it easier to conceal and less likely to print. I absolutely hate appendix carry as I have spent all my life with the belief of not pointing a loaded gun at something I don't want to shoot. My femoral artery and junk fall into that category.
