Use the cup point pins…. Totally agree. The slight cup point, literally slaps critters, and holds together well. It penetrates fully, usually without shearing off pieces, shedding weight and momentum.

The one I was talking about that sheds the petals is the penta hollow point.
I do use the large hp pin in the 512-525 and the 454-640 on black bear up to 600 pounds just fine. But should I expect one that sized is in the area, I will change to the small hp pin loads in the gun.
I have used the cup pin a few times on deer and hogs, twice on bear(325 and 416 pounds) in the 357 magnum. On the deer and pigs it didn't really seem to be any different from the solid as to how fast they were down. On the bears, both were broadside heart shots from a stand over bait at 48yds. Neither went more than 30yds and the hearts were heavily damaged. It works well and exited both times. The one from the larger bear even ripped a 4" gash in the metal bait barrel after exiting the bear.
In the 45C, the cup points really start showing a harder impact and larger damage diameter, often really shredding the offside lung. However the large hp pin is superior in putting them down DRT.
