Anyone here have one here? General opinion of them? Looking at one in pistol caliber.

I think you'll find very few people with experience with them. I bought one and sent it back to get two more barrels fitted to it. I like it a lot in terms of how it's built and the fact that it has the 83 grip frame. I have a 10-in 357 Max barrel. That balances very well. The other two are 223 and 6.5 cm. I finally got myself situated with them and then Leupold pump the brakes on their handgun scopes. So now I have to wait to get my hands on Burris handgun scopes. Everything I've ever seen showed they shot extremely well. I was at the point of placing an order for a 338 Federal setup until those scopes were discontinued. If I get my hands on some inventory I may end up buying one down the road. Who knows. If you like the model 83 I highly suspect you'll like the 2008.

I’ve never handled a 83 but I do have a 97. I’m just surprised that more folks haven’t chimed in that are into the single shot game. Especially since tc’s are gone . |

I'm guessing a few of the reasons that it's not as popular is the fact that you don't have tens of thousands of barrels out there and available for it plus Freedom Arms wants you to send it back to fit new barrels to the frame. And they won't sell you a barrel on its own. It's a different product and I really like it but I think the contender and encore are just much more universally available.

I had one in 6.5 Swede, really enjoyed that gun. Super accurate and had a good FA trigger job. Sold it off to buy something else.

I've shot one at the HHC once, think it was a 376 GNR. Shot good , but that 376 full tilt is a handful.

Just bought a 10” 41 mag 2008. Trigger job factory scope mount and rings . Hopefully have it in hand by end of week!

Just picked it up! What a beauty!! Feels great in hand! Now I know what a FA 83 feels like! I was having reservations as the ssk frames were becoming available. I know just get both! lol

I think folks are missing out if you don’t shoot a 2008 if u have the chance. Don’t know how they would feel recoil wise in a bottle neck cartridge. But she’s a pleasure in 41 mag!
