Ask the average American, what is wrong with the country? Ignorance or apathy? The most likely answer will be, I don't know or care. Chuck Missler said that over 30 years ago. The average American probably doesn't know the definition of apathy anymore.

Hate to hear this. Magma Engineering supported my Star Sizer too... Oh yea they did, I am fortunate that I have most of the sizers I will ever need, I have probably 30 different ones in there. That said I have 30 because 29 didn’t do it and you never know when you might need another. The last sizer I bought the guy said told me yeah we are not near the size we once were but we are trying to plug along. Casting isn’t as popular as it once was but then neither is reloading.

We've been capable of only finding one trainee under 30. He's 18 and a relative of a member of management. Good worker and listens. But he was raised around the business and home schooled. All the other young people washed out quickly the past few years. Wish I would of found a place like that when I was fresh out of school and knew a few things. After years of hearing I needed 5-20 years experience I just kind of stopped trying. Did land a job as a button pusher (CNC) for a 120 day trial. The night foreman found out that I knew more than he did(being honest not cocky) and that I could read and write programs, also the tool and die guys were talking to me, the day supervisor proceeded to let me go when my time was up, found out later that the night foreman pushed for it, he was looking for a raise. Sometimes it's not your work ethic or what you can do or will do, luck plays a lot into some courses of your life. Been dealt many a bad hand, still at the table, just the stakes keep changing.

My Grandfather and Brother were machinists. Both did apprenticeships at GM. The day my brother started there was 5-600 people in several machine trades in the plant. Today less then 20. As for luck my brother was told by his Forman that he was going to be washed out of his apprenticeship because that formans son was the next in line for a spot. Granddad (47 yrs of service and about to retire) hear about it and started pulling in favors! The Forman ended up moved to a different plant.

Sad news to hear. I'd like to find a master caster when money permits.
