This Star Firestar in nickel was in the used gun section in a Maine gun store for $275. Got it for $225 plus shipping to Tennessee. Gonna make this mint piece my new summer carry gun.

9mm?
I've owned the 45 version since new and have never had a fail to feed, fire or function. It's compactness is great and the weight makes it a pleasure to shoot. In my opinion, based on my long term experience is that these are highly underrated handguns.
Enjoy!

I had a Megastar in both 10mm and .45. What a pair of beasts! HEAVY but suitably powered ammo would never fail.

I had one in 9mm in the early 90’s. Traded it off but wish I still had it. Very solid gun.

I shopped a lot at Potomac Arms in Alexandria, VA (which was storefront for Interarms). Back in the 90's, they always had a few of these in their showcase. I still regret not buying one. Slick little guns and they weren't that expensive. You got quite a deal on yours. Thanks for posting it. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I had one in the 90's good little gun, but I thought it was awful heavy for it's size. Well made and and shot fine.

I'll offer a tip that made mine an even better pistol.
The 45 versions left grip had very little clearance under the safety lever which made engaging the safety a bit awkward so I relieved the upper grip area carefully with a Drexel tool for better engagement. Now all is good. Now I don't recall if the 9mm or 40 version has this issue, so there's that. If anyone wants a photo of the modification just let me know and I'll gladly post it.

Ok, I remember these well, as well as other Star handguns. I don't mean anything condescending but that just doesn't seem "old school" to me. How new can something be and yet be considered "old school?"

How new can something be and yet be considered "old school?" It’s not old school like a single action army or a S&W 1917, but compared to most semi auto carry guns sold today, it’s old school. It’s all steel, not plastic, has an actual hammer, not striker fired, and it has some personality, not totally generic looking like so many.

Yea, those were the heat back in the early 90s in Baltimore. Hahaha. Memories.

Had one of those converted to a 10mm. Despite the weight, the short grip in my larger hand made it pretty violent with stout loads. The fireball was glorious!

The first center fire pistol I ever bought was a Firestar in .40 in 1993 or 94. Plopped it in an Uncle Mike's OWB sausage sack holster to carry around our deer lease. I thought I had my poop on a group and knew it all!
