Back in the day the Uncle Mike's were the preferred rubber grips among those whom I circulated. I was never able to achieve comfort with the factory stocks.

I have both of my Redhawks in Bantam grips and couldn't be happier.

My bear chewing on my leg gun is a 4.2" .44 Redhawk. It wears the bantam grip. Few things look cooler than nice wood factory style grips on a Redhawk but few things fit me better than the bantam.

So I had a similar problem with the redhawk. I have two Redhawks. One that I shot a lot before converting was a 7.5" 44 mag square grip. The other I shoot is the 4" round grip from lipseys with the gp100 style barrel.
I grip both very high with my right hand. Just a habit I've been doing. It makes returning a bit easier and faster. With my left I generally cup the butt.
The round butt, because of its shape, used to bite something horrific into the webbing of my thumb and forefinger. That redhawk frame nub was like a damn nodule of steel just hitting my hand. It was the first gun I needed a rubber grip on. I'd go to the range and shoot 100 rounds of 44 mag and by the end it was like getting jabbed with a hot poker. It still upsets me that I needed the hogue full cover grip, but it has the padding I need. Makes me feel like a quitter but it's what it is.
I also have this habit when shooting mags to bend my elbows and let my shoulders carry the recoil upwards. When shooting my SBH or FA83 it works lime a charm in taming any snap.
However I also don't lean into the gun like a lot of guys do. My stance is pretty straight up and down, and sometimes I end up even leaning back a bit if I'm tired. Like it's a chore to hold up the iron after a few hours.
I'm sure I do a few things wrong but so far no major issues.

Thank you all, gentlemen. Everyone’s advice and experience is great to hear. I have some Pachmyer Presentations on the way as well as some Hogues to try out. Shooting instruction exists here in Jackson Hole, but to be honest it is geared towards the ultra-wealthy and their wives, and I can’t say that I’ve ever seen anyone at the range with a big bore revolver that looked like they knew what they were doing. Perhaps I’m wrong. Every so often a shooting event comes through but I’m not a member of anything so maybe that needs to change. I’ll try out these grips when they arrive and implement some of the info y’all have shared and report back. Cheers

AS NOTED, FACTORY REDHAWK GRIPS ARE A POOR CHOICE FOR HEAVY RECOILERS BUT ADDING A TYLER T GRIP ADAPTER HELPS ME A LOT.

Sold. Looks sharp as hell. You really are a .45 man, 45Man. I hadn’t thought of Magnaporting the barrel. How do you like it? I’m assuming earplugs and muffs are mandatory…

THOSE ARE BOWEN PORTS. I HAD MY 5.5" REDHAWK 45 COLT CONVERSION BY LINEBAUGH MNP'ed, I REALLY LIKE PORTS/MNP'ing ON THE REDHAWKS.

For me it is a matter of getting my middle knuckle low enough the trigger guard doesn't beat said knuckle. The grip must be wide enough at the web of your hand to spread the recoil over enough area to be comfortable. If the trigger guard hurts your trigger finger as the gun torque's in recoil, you'll need a glove or piece of tape.

The glove, need not be a "shooting glove". I've sets of leather gloves here of various weights. Roping gloves, goatskin, and deer skin. A snip to take off trigger finger nd your in a better place. I rub in warmed Sno-Seal, and wipe of excess. Others here have other favorite treatments, and recipes to make them. Word of caution here, I am a motorcycle rider and for long rides I keep a number of "fingerless" leather gloves on my bikes. One day shooting I cocked the hammer with my right thumb (shooting RH) and when I set my thumb down on the grip a bit of extra leather below the first joint on the thumb caught the hammer spur and... no click. Scary that can happen, just moving my thumb a bit "could" have let it fire in an unwanted direction. I trimmed back the leather on the thumb of all my gloves I use for shooting so it cannot happen again.

I went through 6-8 sets of grips for my 7.5” Redhawk until I settled on the Pacmayr Decelerator 05058. These grips cover the back strap and make shooting heavy recouping loads easier on my hand.
I know some people like the Uncle Mike’s Reduawk grips, but they were too wide for my hand, same with some camo Pachmayr presentation grips I tried. The Decelerator grips are thinner.
