Me & a friend went to the auction once & bought a black bally steer to butcher. We hauled him home & unloaded him in the corral & he promptly ran over to the fence & jumped it. Not only that but he kept on jumping fences all down along the ditch that ran through everyone's back yard for as far as we could see. Some people had gardens & he made short work of some of them, there were some mad people throwing things at that steer.
After about a mile chase we ended up down near the highway & he was all worked up & ready for a fight, he was also about to cross the main road. I drove home real quick & got my OM 45 Ruger & some 260 gr Keith's & returned to the fight. He was now backed up against some pallets in a friends yard but was about to make a run for it as I pulled in the yard. Walking up close I planted a 260 gr Keith cast bullet into the little curl just above the eye balls & his belly hit the ground so hard it was like a 20 lb cow pie from a bull Garriffe.
Max, a neighbor kid was standing there watching & I offered him $5 to find that bullet for me, he traced it down through the neck & somewhere into the body cavity but never could locate it. I would have gave up hours earlier but he wanted that $5 pretty bad so I gave it to him anyway, never did find it. That meat was so tough you couldn't cut the gravy with a chain saw, me & Danny gave it away to needy families.
We had run that bugger halfway through town, jumping fences, tearing up gardens & getting threatened by grandma's older than Hillary Clinton. There's better ways to get a good piece of beef & also a better way to test heavy cast bullets, live & learn.

That’s a classic story Dick. I have a friend who raises “bucking bulls” for rodeos. I made the mistake of buying some heifers from him one time. A fence meant nothing to them. I got them all caught but one and she ended up in a pasture with NO WATER for over a week. Id see her every day but if you even looked that way she would disappear into a plum thicket. Don’t know how she survived without water for so long. I think I finally got her caught with cubes in a trap……in the dark.
