For anyone that coats their bullets and buys powder coat, which powder do you buy and from where? I’m at the end of my Eastwood black (from Amazon), but if there is something better/cheaper out there, I’m all ears.
I shake and bake if that makes a difference.
Thanks for the help.

A member on here kindly sent me a large supply that will lasta good while, but before that I would buy from Smokes.

Eastwood’s Ford light blue, Kawasaki green and Clear have been working great for me. All available from Amazon.

I think I asked about the free powder a bit too late, so I’m trying to keep from getting in a bind and running out.
Looks like $25/lb +/- is about the going rate?
Thanks for the help.

Harbor Freight only has 2 colors and from my 6 years of experience they dont coat well in a tumbler. Eastwood has every imaginable color and they work very well in a tumbler and they come in plastic bottles with screw on lids and they are cheaper than smoke. FTR I bought my powder from Smoke FROM HIM. I buy my Eastwood powder from Eastwood. I have no intention of making anyone richer than they already are.

I have only gotten the Eastwood in plastic bags from Amazon, never a bottle.
I haven’t tried Harbor Freight yet, but I’ve read mixed reviews. I recently had some good (for me) 100yard accuracy with my coated .45s using Eastwood black, so now I am in production mode. They weren’t pretty, but they shot well. I want to stay on a roll if possible. I missed out on the flat rate bulk box of powder that guys are getting, but wanted to see if there was a better deal out there.
Thanks for all of the input.

How are some of you using tumblers to PC? I tried it early on without success. I'm taking three tumblers to the gun show this weekend and will hold one back if you'd consider sharing your technique with me. One of the more interesting ones I have that I thought should work well for PC is an old Vibratek, but there are two conventional tumblers as well.

I found that not all powder works with the shake / vibrate method, but if a powder can work at all using a #5 recycle container with the black airsoft BB's to help generate static will. If you haven't been there castboolits dot com is a GR8 place for powder coating info.

Not too late, I have just been too busy to mess with it. Packaging the stuff is a real pain as it gets EVERYWHERE. Shoot me your address again and I will try to get a batch to the post office this week.

I'm not having any issues with shake and bake, I'm just cursed with the need to explore new and potentially better ways do do things. I had originally tried using a tumbler for PC but wasn't happy with the results even though it should work fine.
Thanks! Bob

I have switched to using the Bullet corp bullet coating powder, it coats well and looks great. I have only been shooting subsonic ammo so far but I have had 0 problems. I will post oics when I get home tonight.

I would rather spend a couple of dollars on powder than think you used up your time to do me a favor in a hurry. Seriously, it will not be a big deal, but I appreciate the offer.
