MOSTLY GREEK TO ME BUT I ENJOY SEEING/READING ABOUT IT. MY FATHER HAD A 8MM JAP NAMBU (I HAVE IT NOW), AND WAY BACK WHEN AMMO WAS NOT OBTAINABLE, IIRC, THE 30 REMINGTON CASE WAS A PARENT CASE, NOW YOU CAN'T HARDLY GET ANY 30 REMINGTON BRASS OR AMMO. No, but I believe it is easily made from 30 WCF. I'd have to check.

Hmm...When I was looking for a donor case I must have missed that. I have a surfeit of 9.3 X 74R brass, A) to make the 9 X 71 Peterlongo and B) because I jumped too quick when looking for some 9.3 X 72R brass and C), in hopes of some day acquiring a double in 9.3 X 74R. I believe I have plenty for both rifles as I did both before the Fauci-Wuhan flu was turned loose on us and things were more or less normal but, thank you. One never knows what can happen. I'll check that out later this morning, for certain. If you have extra 9.3x74r and don’t mind parting with some let me know, I could use 40 more, I’m down to 60. trapr I wish I did. My surfeit isn't that big...lol. I think 80 cases is my "surfeit.". After coming in from firing the outdoor wood furnace I checked the dimensions on the two cartridges. The 9.3 X 74R would work for the 8 X 60R Magnum. I used 7 X 65R cases for that, NOT 30R Blaser as I said and, I probably got them from Huntingtons. I know that's where the 30R came from. Now, the other case I called the 8 X 65R Brenneke needs a little explaining. It is in a Vierordt SXS and someone in times past attempted to rechamber it to something else and the 8 X 65R Brenneke is the closest the two chamber casts came to. The chambers are not identical and one is a bit rougher than the other. Cases will not interchange from one chamber to the other. 30R Blaser is not the same as 9.3 X 74R....and I already forgot if it's bigger or smaller than the Brenneke cases....(I think it was smaller, such is getting old..). Anyway, 8 X 65R dies work fine but the chamber dimensions won't allow the making of THAT case from 9.3 X 74R. And, that's ok, I have 40 rounds and that's plenty for me. Sooo...thanks again!! I do have a source for the 8 X 60R Magnum should I need it. Given my hunting these days, I have enough cartridges to last beyond my allotted days.

8mm Nambu? I think I read somewhere that 357 Sig can be a donor case. Might come up a tad short?

You missed the bump in .30 Rem brass. When the (IIRC) 6.8 SPC came out, with the same sized/shape case head, .30 Rem brass became readily available for a while. I was buying it to neck to .32 Rem. I didn't buy enough. It dried up about the same time as everything else.
I used to buy .43 Spanish brass, to fire form to .43 Reformado brass, which was made from .348 Winchester brass I believe.

I rebarreled a Yugo SKS to my version of the 8mm Kurts, mine based off the 6.5x54MS cast. Here's some loaded ammo pics of them loaded with 125 grain Hornady hollow points and the LEE 170 grain cast bullet.

So those posting on this thread wanting a Ruger 480 would not be particularly deterred by the prospect of shortening 475L brass...

My main case reforming over the years have been the 30 and 357 Herrett, 6.5JDJ, 375JDJ, 416JRS, and the awesomely powerful 25 flea.
I was making my own 300 whisper, but it's too easy to get 300blk brass now to bother. Also stopped making Linebaugh brass since Starline came out with the 475 and 500 properly head stamped.
