Well I have finished my Ruger Blackhawk to Bisley conversion despite some unwelcome hardships supplied by Midway USA. I ordered a carbon steel grip frame “in the white” and due to a mixup at the warehouse (confirmed by midway USA customer service) I was sent a stainless frame in carbon steel packaging. No wonder my efforts to rust blue wouldn’t work out… Anyway, I’ve decided that since I went to all the effort to fit the frame to the gun, I might as well use it. I think it has turned out quite nice. After shooting it I can say that it positively enhanced every aspect of the experience. Better balance, better pointing, better fit to my paws..I believe I have fallen back in love with this gun. This has been my first “major” project. I feel like I did pretty good for a 25 year old chap! Feel free to pitch in with any constructive criticisms. It’s all about learning for me. Somewhere in these pictures is a ‘before’ and all the rest are ‘afters.’ I’m sure y’all can figure it out!

It appears to me that your efforts to blue the frame did in fact change the color. Is this true? It's handsome no doubt.

Good deal that you wound up using the SS. I for one really prefer everything under one of my very salty hand be stainless.

Funny how trial and error leads to a golden egg.

That’s why I’m not TOO upset with midway. Naturally I had an image in my mind for what it would be and I was upset at first but decided to let myself move forward and I’m glad I did.

Those grips are really nice looking, what kind of wood is that?

Those grips are really nice looking, what kind of wood is that? They are hogue grips made of walnut. Apparently hogue uses fancy grade walnut for these and they do look fantastic. They came slightly oversize which I prefer.

Update about Midway: They reached out to me today to make their mistake right. They informed me that they would have sent me a correct grip frame…if they had any. Since they didn’t, they refunded the cost of the grip frame to me. I thought they went above and beyond to make up for their mistake which is why I have always and will continue to be a midway USA customer. They showed a genuine concern for what my expectations were for my project and how them sending me the wrong product affected the outcome. Color me impressed.

Im surprised they would refund without getting the item back. Once I explained that I had already fitted the item to my gun and they wouldn’t benefit from my returning it, they really didn’t want it back. I did have to email them pictures and three phone calls before someone in upper management contacted me (I was surprised to see them calling me). He was the one that wanted all the details about my project and how the wrong product being sent to me affected it. They expressed that they wanted to keep my business and offered the refund. I’m not the type to milk a problem for what can be given to me for free and told them that I just wanted to make them aware of the problem. They really did more than they had to but I do appreciate them taking care of me.

Its good. Im glad it worked out. Midway is just a wannabe amazon of outdoors stuff. Its amazing you got through to a person. You did good on your installation. The Ruger bisley grip frame is my favorite for shooting.
