For many, many years the 222 was king of the hill in bench rest shooting until the "6's" came along. Lots of world records set with the old 222's, including a .008" at 100 yds, 5 shots, by one of the McMillan's out of Phoenix. And this was with a Light Varmint class gun.

222 Sako! Built by another, long gone, gunsmith friend in the 90s. When traded for this this was a 7mm TCU. Tale was it was the gun that Ken Tapp used at the '88 Masters. It looked like a Ken Tapp gun. Wish I'd thought to take a few pictures of the original. Today it is a work of art. Everything but the bolt and action has been replaced. Currently wearing a 3-12 Burris. The Burris scope will go on my K Hornet Redhawk and be replaced with a proper scope. Just noticed, conetrol rings?

Talley was the only maker I could find for NULA rings for a long time, and even their lowest are pretty high over the bore. I made calls and pored over many forum searches etc until a saw a random post last summer about an estate purchased nula that was wearing strange rings. One of the members said they thought maybe they were conetrol. I looked them up, and sure enough they make nula bases. Awesome setup, very sleek and very very low. With a 36mm 2.5-8 with Bc reticle that rifle points like shotgun now. I’ll use them from here on out.
