Heck of a deer! How hard are you pushing the bullet? 353 casull loads? Thank you. I’m pushing them pretty hard but not to 353 levels. There are no published 353 level loads with this 158 gr Swift bullet that I am aware off, but I’m a couple of grains below Mr. Taffin’s 353 loads with a 158 gr XTP. I’m using Starline brass, CCI550 and enough Accurate #9 to get 1600+ velocities out of a 9” barrel. The FA 97 can handle the loads, but I load the brass only once at this level before dropping them in the practice brass bucket. Cases take one top load and then 2-3 practice loads before the primer pocket starts getting loose.

Have you shot any cast at those velocities?

Have you shot any cast at those velocities? Yes it is flat shooting. Zeroed at 50 yds requires no holdover out to 100 yds. I haven’t tried cast and probably won’t in this gun. A 357 Maximum I hunt with likes 180 gr cast hp from GT bullets at about 1350 fps that I hope to try on a deer soon.

Great buck! Nice thick beams. Sounds like great performance from your 357.

Congrats! Nice buck! Nice gun! Thank you. I could be mistaken, but I believe the 357 158 gr Swift Aframe bullets I loaded for this gun once belonged to you. I bought them from a forum member that I think bought them from you.

Congrats on a nice buck and glad to hear the bullet held up well and did its job. I wonder how hard that bullet can be pushed and how well it would handle a direct shoulder hit.

The A-frames will do a double shoulder shot at 1750fps and stay together at 34ft from the muzzle on a 193 pound buck in my experience with them. FA 353 8".

Dandy buck with that 357 & I agree a lot of people over look it for deer, it's plenty capable. James From Jersey swears those "Two Step" bullets are the raspberries for hunting, he must know what he's talking about!
