It's funny that you posed this question Ronnie.
I went to town yesterday to pick this gun up off layaway and did. But, I found the 44 Magnum on my way home and it grabbed my attention.
But, the 48 got a range session today just like the 44 Magnum.
It is as finely crafted as any factory revolver ever. S&W, like others, is hit or miss. The Classics seem to be much better than standard offerings.
Once properly sighted in, groups stayed 1.2-1.5". Gun might do better, but that's as good as it gets for me.
Gun was particularly fond of Hornady 45s as am I.

Glad to hear that it doesn’t disappoint at the range. I was going to buy an Anaconda but got to thinking that I have enough big boomers and deer guns but am lacking a little in the smaller ones and every time I try to buy an older model 48 something happens so I found a new one and figured it would be a good route.

I'm thinking it wise to add these while we can. The bean counters are prone to axe the production of them at any time.
How many have thought they'd add a certain gun only to see them dropped?
S&W definitely has hit or miss quality control. They range from spectacular to trout line weights.
Back in the 80s, S&W Quality was so bad. They were sold and came back better. Then came the terrible safety we all hate.
So, it's best to add a good one now and then. Add the Tromix Thumbpiece that covers the Hilary Hole and call it good.
