Center grip is most comfortable for me. I work the bolt and drop in the rounds with my left hand with no problems.

I have both a Striker and an XP 100 center grips and like both. The left bolt of the .308 Striker is faster in hunting situations as it holds 3 rounds should you need them, for multiple targets. My XP100 has a better trigger and is still a 221 Fireball so not a deer hunting gun to me. I have had 3 bolt head retaining pins break in the Striker which can leave the gun locked up until you can finagle the broken pin head back in place to unlock the bolt. My 1999 original model Striker has the first gen style trigger and large bolt head pin size which Savage no longer uses or carries. Shooting off bags the rear grip is more stable than the center grip as the weight is forward over the bags. For off hand work or hunting I like the center grip better.

I have the xp's in center grip and had rear grip and they all had a place. I prefer the center grip most of the time for hunting but have used the rear grip in the woods its not too bad but usually just used it out in fields with a bipod for groundhogs. I had the weatherby cfp they made in early 2000's now that was unwieldly i drug it to the woods and it worked but it was just way long so it also got used mostly in the fields and now thinkin i wish i could find one again i cant believe i let it go smh
