Nice revolver. Is the barrel sleeved? I have heard that the new SRH's have sleeved barrels. From what I understand, they enhance accuracy.

I picked up a 9 1/2 inch barreled one at a gun show, traded my Dan Wesson Model 40,
in Maximum caliber for it! The Dan Wesson was wore out from 20 years of IHMSA silhouette
shooting, but the guy at the gun show wanted it, and I made the trade with him!

Thinking about a scoped one for stand hunting. Just never warmed to the looks.

They are a belt and suspenders kind of gun bare. If you add a scope better have real good suspenders or a backpack. They do shoot good though, and the weight helps with that. I cannot abide the standard Ruger insert grip [ it pulled a chunk of meat off the inside of my thumb] so added Pachmayers to mine.

I don't think I would want any srh bigger than an Alaskan for belt duty. My 500L Redhawk even rides in a shoulder holster. I'd probably go with member bigbore's excellent chest rigs. I carried my Blackhawk this past weekend in it for two days in perfect comfort and am going to be ordering more from him, including a pancake design we're trying to hash out for strong side carrying my 45 Blackhawk packing pistol in

They are not that heavy! Now my 50AE Desert Eagle, with scope, you might be on
the right track, but not a Ruger Super Redhawk!

Pulled a Leupold 2X out of the scope box... Grabbed the rings out of the box. Plan to mount the scope and get it on paper today.

6 rounds of 325 grain Hornady from a rest. 1350 FPS at the muzzle. A little low and left. One shot completely out of the group...

GOOD GROUP. I RECENTLY PICKED UP A USED 9.5" "GREY" 480 SRH WITH A GEN II ULTRADOT, TRIED A RELOAD, A RON REED LOAD AND SOME HORNADY AMMO, ALL WERE DISAPPOINTING, SO AT THE RECENT HHC HUNT IN TENNESSEE I GAVE TO GARY REEDER FOR: 1) THE PERFORMANCE PACKAGE, 2) REMOVE THE FS AND ADD A MUZZLE BRAKE, and 3) MOUNT A PICCANNINY RAIL (IF POSSIBLE), AS I HAVE NEVER FELT "SECURE" WITH THE RUGER REVOLVER MOUNTING SYSTEM. HOPEFULLY IT WILL SHOOT LIKE THE TARGET ABOVE.

FWIW started this shooting with two rounds of some sort of cast bullet load from X years ago. They stacked on top of each other too. Expected the full power factory stuff to open up but was pleasantly surprised. Holding some Montanna Bullet Works powder coated cast bullets I'll load for it next.
