Status of .480 Ruger brass. The powers that be after looking at our request for .480 Brass don’t think there is enough demand to move it up in production status. They are going to make more but we won't see it until they are caught up more on some other higher demand cartridges. I am currently taking our same petition and already talking to another manufacturer. I got a response back today. They are taking this seriously and we should have an answer later this week. If that fails I am going to approach another company that hasn’t made any .480 yet. They make some much more oddball than .480 though. I will keep everyone updated.

I could use 480 Ruger brass as well. Don't know if you need a commitment here or somewhere else but I would take 1000.

After chopping down my 475's I'm covered with .480 but I'll spring for more if it will expedite the issue.

I am glad I stocked up years ago when it wasn’t a precious metal.
On the bright side 480 brass seems to live forever, I have some that has 20+ loading through them.

Thanks for carrying the ball on this, reflex264! I am a pessimist at heart, and none of this gives me a warm fuzzy regarding the future of the .480 Ruger cartridge. I guess I need to start saving my pennies and either have a replacement .475 Linebaugh cylinder made for my Bisley .480, or else buy a BFR .475/.480 convertible.

I’m starting to see a lot more green dots on the Starline website. Maybe they are getting caught up some.

Another update. Hornady says it is so far behind on other things, mainly ammuntition that there isn't goign to be anytime soon. I am headed to a custom maker that that may be our best bet. I will update as I know it.

Just interesting to see that whether it is 480 brass or a special run Ruger revolver what we here see as demand doesn’t amount to much.

Just interesting to see that whether it is 480 brass or a special run Ruger revolver what we here see as demand doesn’t amount to much. The "average" gun buyeris of two types: One just wants a plastic fantastic that's easy to rack with limp wrists, small to tuck right into their panties (heaven forbids there ever be a bulge there!), and doesn't have recoil or make scary sounds. The other wants a plastic fantastic with rails, sight cuts, co-witness sights, suppressor ready, uber capacity in 9mm so he can play pretend he's "taticool" on the weekends like one of us who actually used handguns tactically without all that crap. In general, those types aren't on this site. There's people who have guns and there's Shootist.
