Thanks Dick, I was wishing I had my Forkin gun with your 305HP’s on my hip when the pronghorn showed up. 80ish yards wasn’t much of a rifle shot, but it’s what I had on me at the time.

I think if I use it, it will probably be from a tree stand I have set up by the house. It which case, simply because of terrain and tree cover, shots would be 20 yards and in. What I DID do, was go for option D, I ordered a few of the most expensive bullets I could, shy of the Swift A Frames lol. On a whim, I bought some Barnes 180gr $1.00+ a shot bullets. I've played with a some in 9mm recently and they impressed me, so I thought I'd give them a try. Certainly not a high volume option though. lol I don't need super accuracy for bow hunting distances, but elevation changes are my concern. If I don't get a chance to load and try, and make adjustments, the 210 Sierra's it will be. The early setting sun limits my shooting opportunities greatly, and this gun is the lowest priority at the moment. Gun season is a month away, but I will have a grand total of two free days between then and now, unless I play hooky from work, which will probably have to happen just to get my rifle troubles sorted out.

I try to avoid the rush to get ready for a season by shooting the same bullets and loads all year. Any experimenting is carried out by spring so I have plenty of time to work with the load.
I've pretty much stopped using factory bullets all together since I returned to casting. Many people claim they don't have time to cast their own. I used to. But it only takes an hour or so to run a whole pot of what I want for much less money.
I don't have a 41 right now, but a 41sp conversion on an OM is on my to do list for next year. It will probably be loaded with a 640 design hp bullet.
I have not seen any factory bullets yet that are honestly superior to a properly cast one on deer or black bear sized game. And I have killed a few of each.

Physical issues have kept me from doing much shooting at all for many months. Oddly enough, I've mostly been shooting a bow for the last five months. The one thing I thought these issues would probably keep me from ever doing again. Turns out my two arms working against each other in opposite directions makes the shaking better, not worse. The tension steadies things. I've started shooting pistols one handed again because it's steadier than two hands. Bringing this gun at all was a last minute decision in the big picture. While hunting, I plan on what I will hunt with the following year. It never holds true though. I just bought a rifle and I SWORE to myself I wasn't going to try to bring it hunting this year. "Stick it aside and don't mess with it till spring!" But once I started playing with it I knew I couldn't do that. That shuffled the whole deck of cards on what was coming. One rifle I had planned on bringing, I've kind of backed off of because I HAVEN'T casted any bullets for it yet, despite having bought the mold 10 months ago. (I really do hate casting. I have three new MP molds I haven't used yet, one I bought 4-5 years ago, still haven't used it.) "Instead of that, I'll bring this rifle." (Savage 1899 in .250-3000, it's been 8-9 years since it was out of the safe, the one and only time I took it hunting, it needs to be in the woods again) But not long after , that notion turned into "Eh, why not bring the 657 instead of that rifle? one less large object to pack." Too many guns and not enough hunting opportunities.
