Kev,…how much farther in did you have to go to get into the area to hunt, hours wise??

Kev,…how much farther in did you have to go to get into the area to hunt, hours wise?? Trapr We have about a 22 mi ride to get from the ranch to the camp. I took my Garmin GPS and stuck it in my saddle bag a couple days. On average we would ride anywhere from about 12 to 20 miles a day round trip to get to the hunting spot and get back to camp. Of course if the elk weren't there we kept riding until we found something. I'm going to post more about this later.

I know that feeling,…..Sherry and I met during my competition days, when she took a rifle class from my shooting partner and I. She is capable of making tough shots, seemingly Impossible shots to many. Our recent hunt in Sweden allowed her to show just how well she can shoot. 3 of us were there to help with a government approved seal sample taking excursion. She was casually asked to make a shot at a “target” roughly 3”x5” standing offhand in a small boat with a rifle not her own while we pitched in 1-2 foot seas. The shot was 50-75 yards and both the target and boat are moving in the seas, she broke the trigger and scratch one “target”. Previously one of the “professional” cullers had missed his shot, we were not questioned on our ability to shoot any longer. I guess they figured if the “weak” link could pull it off then they’d stop questioning our prowess. BTW, we would go on to take more seal in one day than they ever had before. It allowed the entire sample taking trip to be completed in one day, leaving the remaining days for eating and drinking and good fellowship. Good partners in all things are invaluable.

I love to see the ladies & kids out there hunting, gives us all some hope. That seems like an awful long hunt from camp but I don't know the circumstances. I would sure want to hunt closer to the elk if possible but there must be some reason. 3am would separate the men from the boys in a hurry, that's for sure. You earned that bull & some fine shooting. Elk are funny, sometimes they go down from the first shot & other times they can take a real pounding.

Kevshell, Congrats on picking a good one. My ex wouldn't even come hang out in the heated blind on beautiful snowy days. My girlfriend of 2+ years hunts, fishes, camps, loves being outdoors, and she's not a complainer in the least. She spends the night when we're hunting at my place and she's the one who wakes me up and drags me out in the cold when I don't feel like it. They're treasures, they definitely add to the occasion, for sure.

I just showed these awesome pics to my wife, telling her that he and his wife were hunting. My wife said "Two words for you that will never be in the same sentence are wife and hunting."
