Well I don't own a Dan Wesson Revolver and looking around some shows used model 15's going for reasonable prices. Is there anything I should know about Dan Wesson's before I jump??? I'm Familiar with S&W and Rugers, kind of want to dip my toe in the DW pool...

Any potential benefit of the DW system will be lost to you if you don't jump in with both feet. Without spare barrels, grips and tools to do it right then it is just another 357 revolver. Might as well stick with S&W or Ruger. It only makes sense if you can swap stuff around.

I really like my Dan Wesson's & have them in most calibers, the exception being 45 Colt & 32/20. They were made to be shot in single action, or so I have been told & that works well for me. But, they are like my beloved Encores, even though I CAN switch barrels around I seldom do, because in 357 calibers I have 2-1/2"blue,& 6" & 8" Hard Chrome, with an extra 4" hard chrome barrel. In my real favorite, the 357 Max I have a 6" gun & an 8" gun, in 375 Supermag I have only the 8" barrel revolver & in 41 Mag Stainless I have 6" & in 44 Magnum I have a 6" stainless & an 8" blued gun, for which I also have a 10" barrel, last but not least, in 32 Magnum I have a 6" barrel & in 22LR I have a 6" & a custom EWK 3" barrel. In fact, over the years I have switched away from Colt & S&W to Dan Wesson's & Rugers for the most part, & I have been a member of the S&W Collectors Association for well over ten years so maybe that says something. Mostly what it says is I like guns I can change & play around with & have gotten away from the the collectibles to some degree. One other point I would like to make, over the last couple of years I have had little issues come up that I needed help with & not only was the Dan Wesson factory able to help, but they did it quickly, with three different times I sent guns in & always got them back within three weeks or so & with repair bills that were very fair & reasonable. I have tried to send S&W 's back & was always told a year or more wait, warranty work is much quicker I have been told but this was repair work on older guns, they just do not have enough people to do the work I was told.

Back in the late 1970's,, I saw a 4 barrel pistol pack for sale,, at a reasonable price. But my meager wages didn't allow me to buy it. I always remembered "missing" that one. Then,, a few years ago,, I found another 4 barrel pistol pack in .357. This time,, I had the money,, (even though it was a lot more than when I found one in the 70's.) Well, that's led to me going after a DW in .44 mag that's come up for sale too. Great guns,, and by all means,, if possible,, GET THE KIT!!!!!!!!

years ago, i gave my son , dan wesson kits: in 44 magnum, and a kit in 357, and in 22. he still has them and these are all blue. i have two 44 magnum kits in stainless, one 44 kit in blue, and a stainless kit in 357.i have a kit in 22 [ blue ]
i think i am a hoarder, but i got all these when they were pretty inexpensive. they all shoot impressively well. glad i grabbed them. one of the stainless 44s i have set up with a scope for deer hunting here in montana. the others still rreside in our home in alaska.

I would like to have one in 445 Supermag, with 3 or 4 barrels to choose from. One can dream! Lol

I can agree with this perspective - especially so on the large frame supermag models as they generally command a premium. However the 357s sometimes go so cheap you could never get a 686/GP100 for the same money. Therefore they can represent a good value.

I wanted one but they are too high for my budget even without the extra barrels. I'll stick with my M27 and my Rugers.

Yes! STAY AWAY! For the same reason I don't own a Colt revolver either, Smith and Ruger are all my finances can handle! :-)

I'd like a DW kit...
Three times locally over the years when one comes up available (used) the kit is incomplete, missing at least one item or the price has been waaaaay high.
The DW revolvers I've handled have all been strikingly good quality, very well built, with exceptional triggers.
I'll keep looking...

That's what i see too, they seem to sometimes get overlooked at G/B. I think I may keep my eyes out for a .357 and see if I can find something unloved...

I'm Familiar with S&W and Rugers, kind of want to dip my toe in the DW pool... I have several Dan Wesson revolvers...all Monson guns. Not quite as elegant perhaps as N or L frame S&W revolvers but they are well made, strong and accurate handguns.
