I have found for me the front sight is a touch short. This has mandated that I run 255gr bullets at 1000fps as a minimum with the rear sight bottomed out. My standard load is the classic Keith bullet over 8.2gr of Power Pistol for right at 1000fps and is wonderfully accurate, it also likes the full Keith load. The other bullet it REALLY likes is the 429215GC at about 225gr, I ran it slower, 850fpsish for a little milder load and it was very happy, leaned on it hard because I could and the gun might have gotten happier with that bullet going over 1200fps. Good luck with yours, I am told some of the runs of these guns had taller front sights than others did... Interesting. I did not know of them coming with different sight heights. I ordered some 255g keith style bullets to start out with. I'll see what I can do with those. What distance to you normally sight yours in at? Ideally 6 o'clock hold on a clay pigeon at 50 yards. For me and my hands that is right on top of the front sight at 25 yards, just under the blade at 75, and just a touch of holdover at 100 yards if I am shooting like I should (I am the weak link in all of this)...

Well I need to step up my distances. Thanks.

JWheeler331, approach these guns with extreme caution. They are addictive to the point of hopelessness.
I now have three of these fully custom in 44 Special, one in 480 Ruger, one in 45 Auto Rim, one in 45 Schofield and one in 44-40 WCF (5-Shot).
It's like quicksand...the more you squirm, the deeper you sink.

While I am waiting on the dies to get here I decided to make a holster for it. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I went with a cross draw holster since its one of my favorite ways to carry in the field.

Well done on the holster, and congrats on finding just the gun you wanted. My only complaint with my flat top is the xr3 grip frame. It doesn't fit my hand. Wish I could find a set of Uncle Mikes rubber grips to fit it.

Wish I could find a set of Uncle Mikes rubber grips to fit it. Would the Bisley grip still be considered a XR3 grip frame? I thought those were only the plow handle.

I have one in 4 5/8 because I couldn’t find a 5 1/2”. Still wish I had a 5 1/2” just because I almost did the same thing but really wanted the 5.5" barrel so I just told myself I would wait it out. Took about 2 months of solid looking pretty much every day. Then one night one popped up for sale and I was ready to pull the trigger on the deal right away.
