Last September I traded into a lightly used FA83 chambered in 454 Casull.
Grips were badly damaged, but metal was all in excellent shape.
Wanting to shoot midrange loads, I got The Ferminator to build me a Custom Front Sight to split the difference between 45 Colt and 454 Casull Heights.
Eventually, the gun made it's way back to Freedom Arms for a full factory overhaul and an auxiliary 45 ACP Cylinder.
Today, the Big Brown Truck delivered the gun back home. Tim has pictures and will post them when his work schedule allows.
More information to follow...

Can you explain what it is involved in an overhaul at the factory? Is it just fresh springs? Or more?

I suppose that term could have varying definitions...
For me, I asked for the gun to be put back in New Condition.
That included springs and screws, mainspring, complete refinish of gun and reapplying the factory markings.
Options I added were replaceable firing pin, action job, overtravel screw, 45 ACP Cylinder and Tan Micarta Grips.
This gun originally left the factory in 1996. Apparently has been shot very little. Forcing cone face, forcing cone, rifling, etc was reported to be in new condition...

Scope is a Weaver 2x. I've yet to kill one as they are tough.
I appreciate the comments about the grips. I decided to go all the way on this gun.
My FA97 17 HMR has the Tan Micarta and I really like it.

I do understand there'll be some contention on me foregoing a 45 Colt Cylinder. It's simply not needed if anyone doesn't neglect cleaning their gun.
Second, the ACP Cylinder will be Counterbored for 45 Auto Rim.
Bradshaw actually suggested this on one of my 45 Auto Rim Threads.
Whether in jest or not, I thought it a splendid idea.
Reflex264 has also shed much light on what the small capacity cases are capable of.

Love it! I’ve told myself I’m going to master/continue shoot the pi$$ out of Ruger only loads in the Bisley before I step up to a 5-shooter….but if a deal comes along…..

I appreciate it guys...
These older FA in 454 Casull and 45 Colt were cut for a wider rim than the newer guns.
The chambers are the same, so I'm curious if rim dimensions have changed thru the years.
But, just like my older FA97 45 Colt, this gun readily chambers the 45 Schofield.
That means this cylinder alone will fire 45 Cowboy, 45 Schofield, 45 Colt and 454 Casull.
Once altered, the auxiliary cylinder will fire 45 ACP, 45 Super and 45 Auto Rim.
May never be necessary, but good to know...
