Chest pack holsters are great and I love them but I find that I like to use them just as sling packs or carried like a bandolier, i.e. over one shoulder only.
This is because it looks less “gun” and tactical and is easier to doff/don and swing out of the way to your side or rear.
I also find most all chest packs took small.
I typically use the Kifaru Koala and, though it is on the larger side, its great trick is that it has compression straps which allow it to be adjustable for the amount of gear you carry - can go from minimal overnight camping loadout to just carrying iron and snacks. They also have PALS webbing on the BACK of the pack (closest to the body) so one can attach metal like blades or minimalist mag shingles for ideal weight distribution. I just leave an elasticized mag shingle on it it 100% of the time because it is so slim and one cannot see it anyway when not in use. It can also be used for not just mags but pretty much everything that will fit for quick access - even small pistols.
It’s too bad they are no longer made.

I am liking the versatility of those chest packs. My concern is for my ability to bleed off heat. I've always had trouble with heat. A large number of square inches in front of my chest would be not getting air. Am thinking I'd be a sweaty mess even in only a t-shirt anytime above 60 degrees.

The Boundless also has PALs webbing on the back side, as well as compression straps. I’m a big fan of Kifaru gear and use it a lot. The quality of the Boundless chest pack rivals any of my Kifaru bags.

This carry mode never occurred to me thanks for posting. I'll have to look into a smaller version of a chest pack for my motorcycle and carry piece. Wearing AIWB on a crotch rocket makes me "painfully" aware of my crotch :-) I have been looking at drop leg pouches and may have to try both because hunching over the tank may be problematical on a crotch rocket with a chest rig. ...take a look at the Hill Peoples Gear Runners pack...it is quite slim...
