Never had any experience with ground squirrels until I moved. Now I see how much of a nuisance they are. Can't shoot much more than a pellet gun where I work(i have gotten a few with the pellet gun) but they say dropping bubble gum in the hole will kill them, They eat it, can't digest it and can't pass it or anything else after they eat it. And I run the grounds department on a golf course in a resort setting with houses and condos lining the fairways. That's why it's pellet gun only. And no, I don't play golf. Most people are surprised to hear that.
That being said, Great job on the family reducing the population. I am shocked at not only the numbers you have taken, but the sheer number of those little varmints in your area
