Hey guys, I'm new here to the forum and really enjoy it. Yes you read the post correctly. I have a Ruger Redhawk built by John Linebaugh in .45 Colt. I have had it 25 plus years. I never knew John built Redhawks so when I got it I called him and ended up leaving a message. After a few days went by he called me back and said he had built 2!!! He said it was a converted .44 mag that the cylinder was reamed to tight chambers. He asked if there was a line around the end of the barrel and I said no, he said one was bored and sleeved and the other one went to Hamilton Bowen to be drilled and rerifled ( Delta Gun Shop??) Looks like I got lucky and have the bored and rerifled one. It is engraved with the Linebaugh custom sixguns, Cody Wyoming on one side of the barrel and .45 Colt on the other. The barel is 51/2" overall, 43/4 from the frame. It also has a heavy duty Bowen rear sight on it. With John's passing I am thinking about selling the girl but thought I would ask here first because you guys are the aficionados of the revolver world. Don't have any idea what it would be worth. I have pictures that I can send If someone wants to see. Not sure if I can post pics here or not, never bothered to look. Thanks guys for any info. Have a great one.

If he only made 2 I know who has the other one. Although I question the boring and sleeving.

There is a chance he made more after I spoke to him but he was building the single actions so I doubt it. When I talked to him it was close to 25 years ago

There is a chance he made more after I spoke to him but he was building the single actions so I doubt it. When I talked to him it was close to 25 years ago He continued to work on double actions. Some just for himself A 45 colt in a model 69 was one we were working on. Smith wouldn’t build one so we were gonna build him one. He had a 45 colt mountain Gun for years. He just wanted a lil smaller double action. Will build them for his sons.

HERE IS A PICTURE OF THE MUZZLE OF MY SS LINEBAUGH 45 COLT REDHAWK CONVERSION. LINEBAUGH DID MINE IN 1994, WHEN HE WAS IN MISSOURI. THE BARREL HAS .45 Colt ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND Linebaugh Custom Sixguns WITH Cody, Wy. UNDER ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BARREL. A SS 44 MAG REDHAWK WAS THE DONOR GUN, AND THIS WAS BEFORE FACTORY 45 COLT REDHAWK REVOLVERS EXISTED. AFTER I GOT THE REVOLVER BACK FROM LINEBAUGH I SENT IT TO MNP FOR MNP'ing, CROWN THE BARREL, ACTION WORK AND MISC. I DO NOT SEE ANY SLEEVE ON MINE AND IIRC I WAS TOLD BY JOHN THAT IT WAS A REBORE TO 1 IN 16. NO DOUBT 45 COLT REDHAWK CONVERSIONS BY JOHN ARE SCARCE.

I would think it would be worth quite a lot because of the rarity. I've never seen a Redhawk he worked over. I've been watching prices on GunBroker for his stuff and people are really trying to cash in since he passed. I'm seeing $7500 for some of his full custom conversations. I don't know what there actually getting for them though. I would hang onto it if it were mine, there will be no more of them. I wanted one of his customs for years and finally got one and I don't think I will ever part with it. I love his work more than any of the other custom guys. Just clean looking and classy no frills and nicely done.
