I've never played with one but do admire them. Similarly I have 2 S&W 41s (5.5" and 7") that seem like they are better built/over built than most for what it is and for the price. And like yours they are accurate beyond capabilities.
I missed a few opportunities on these. Nice pieces.

I've got a 1969 S&W Model 41 too. I can't shoot it as well as I shoot the High Standard pistols but I think it's the trigger that is the difference. It's seems that I don't have an image of it by itself but it is in this photo.

Just like mine. As blocky as they are they have great balance.

I shot a pair of High Standars in NRA bullseye matches for years. Other than the magazine issues, they are great guns!

I never shoot the one I have anymore, but even still, any time I see one in a store or on auction, I want to buy it. Amazing guns that have actually started to get cheaper (considering how much everything else has gone up)

Those High Standards are wonderful guns & they made a LOT of different models. One of my sons has quite a few of them. When I shot on the base pistol team back in the 60's they issued each of us 3 guns, a hard ball gun (45) a match wadcutter gun (45) & a rim fire gun (S&W model 41) after a few months I switched to a High Standard but I can't remember which one it was, just fit me better. I've had both of the Smith's over the years & a few of the High Standards, you can't go wrong with either. I think High Standard's down fall was making so many different models, they sure were nice guns.

The only HI-STANDARD I've ever owned is a SPORT-KING Lightweight. I still have it. I don't know how rare it is, if at all. I've never seen another one like it.

Dick,, I heard the High Standards referred to as; "A poor man's S&W model 41." Yet,, I've seen many folks who can shoot a HS right beside a S&W 41 & make it outshoot those 41's.
I like the ones with removable barrels, & weights. Makes customizing one for a specific purpose EASY!!!!!! I have a few spare barrels & weights for some of mine. They truly do shoot VERY well!

Some days I could shoot the High Standard better & other days it was the model 41 S&W, really I would hate to choose. I know some of those High Standards my son has are just scary accurate even now at my advanced age. I know I'm hi jacking here but about 30 years ago I took my boys out for a 2 day safari on Ground Squirrels & all 4 of them were well armed, but mostly with Ruger 10-22's. I was packing a 6" Colt Python stoked with 38 specials & the Keith bullet with 5.2 grs of Unique, and my other gun was the 5" barreled model 41 S&W. At that time I was a fair shot off hand. After 2 days we were just a bit over 800 Ground Squirrels between us & I accounted for 181 or 184, can't remember but all of them were off hand. We couldn't go back there for a couple of weeks it smelled so bad! And the hawks & magpies could hardly get off the ground!

With all the fanfare for the High Standards I saw this elsewhere and thought this was interesting.
