Yes make it the same as 454. The ones I have measured are 479-480 at base and 475-476 at mouth. They usually have .004 taper. An old Linebaugh gun measured slightly less at 475- 478. .003 taper. It is a tad smaller than my FA 454. Hope this helps

I imagine some folks are just reticent about it all, as they may feel that custom gun secrets should stay secrets. I certainly won’t go as tight as you said Linebaugh went, but the FA numbers seem reasonable, and about where I was thinking. Thanks to all who have chimed in on this subject! It has been informative all the way around.

You can call Manson and tell them you want a 45 Colt reamer to Linebaugh specs and they will build it. When I ordered mine, they emailed me a reamer spec drawing. I talked to John about what they sent in an email and it was “spot on”. John told me he ordered all his reamers from Manson and his specifications were kept on file, at the time of my ordering they were available to anyone, by request, as a custom order. Regards, Steve

Get Veral Smiths book and read it. It explains ALOT. I have a Manson tight spec CYLINDER reamer that cuts both the body and the throat all at once. It cuts 452 throats exactly. I have used it for years to build S&W 45 colt 38/44 heavy duty conversions and ruger heavy single actions. You have to be careful cutting bodies to close or you will have some extraction issues. I make barrels frome douglas or krieger stock so I know my 452 throats are exactly correct for the barrel bore dimensions and that is the key. Manson doesn't make sloppy reamers so they will cut exact Sammi dimensions and the throat size you request.
