That's alot of holes ! Plenty of 357 Mag fire power there. I do really like those slab sided barrels also. Currently looking for 4 inch 686 , 6 shot for my son's graduation/ birthday. If I can't find at a few of my frequented LGS ,have a few saved on Gunbroker. The 6 shot is a little harder to find than the 7.

Saw a 4 inch 586 out back a week or so ago. Think I need to go see if it is still back there and put my name on it if it is.

Really like the DX front sight on this gun too... So easy to change out.

Nice find, the 627/327 are fun shooters.
Now you have some decisions to make though. Load with moon clips, speed loaders or load them one at a time. Since you "hate moon clips" I guess your decisions are easier? :-)
I also dislike moon clips but range trips are less tedious using them if you preload a bunch in advance and having the cylinder chamferred makes the reload operation a breeze.

Noted that TK offers Starline brass specific moon clips for the 627... Hate to see that. Don't think my HKS or Speed Beez loaders care

Starline doesn't say anything. There is a comment that talks about using .025 clips. TK speaks loud enough about it to satisfy me. I'd bet that the standard clips work but don't hold the brass the way the ninjas like it.

FWIW in the big picture of rim variation in moon clips, it goes beyond moon clipped revolver cartridges. The 357 case head variation doesn't hold a candle to 9mm..

Had one of these but it just never fit me right. I have it's little brother now, the 686 SSR.

Great looking Smith! I too was recently very tempted at a local gun store by one of these. Excellent feel to the gun. It was close but I got the Smith model 57 that dealer had. But, that gun still sits there awaiting some lucky new owner...

Installed a HiViz front sight and a Wilson spring kit. SA trigger now runs about 1 pound 10 ounces. DA trigger runs about 6... Gun shoots good. Looking at a tool steel hammer and trigger but think I'll try to wear these MIM parts to a nub before I change them out.
