I'd have thought those who paid up front would be at the top of the list. OK, close enough. I hereby rescind my negativity/sour grapes. This evening, I received "the email" from Marty, and have spoken to him on the phone. FFL is on the way. My four-year bout of skepticism is allayed, and Marty is now my bff. (I can't believe I said that.)
Sure does make a difference in one's perspective, doesn't it?
I think Marty felt pretty badly about all this and is paying penance/making calling people personally. Or, maybe hes a one-man show? In any case, I went form slightly put out, to annoyed, to bored, to "OK, I give up."
Now, I'm like "SERIOUSLY??"
Marty deserves credit for having stepped out there - and having stepped right in it - and acknowledging that. I'm glad it finally worked out for HIM and I'm glad it finally worked out for US.

jeffh,
I think you come close with the "one man show". The direct line that Marty provided in the email is the normal main line to HofA, and he answered on the first ring. Marty said he's been working very long days, with help from two grand daughters, finalizing details and processing the shipments.

I just got a new .30-06 barrel from Haus Of Arms this past month for my Pro Hunter. I'm waiting for it to cool off a bit here so I can fire it up!

I just got a new .30-06 barrel from Haus Of Arms this past month for my Pro Hunter. I'm waiting for it to cool off a bit here so I can fire it up! The recoil was fast and abusive to [my old hands], not everyone will feel that way. I had my barrel threaded and installed a brake, it made a world of difference, its very shootable now. Killed my last buck with mine, 150 gr handload.

I originally purchased this pistol as a new, complete gun in .308. I'm thinking the recoil won't be much more abusive in .30-06. Especially with lighter bullets. Hot .30-06 loads with 220 grain bullets may very well be a different story. I purchased the .30-06 barrel because I have so much .30-06 ammunition and brass. This gun will help me shoot it up.

Graf & Son's has this .223 / 5.56 MM barrel for sale, that is supposed to fit the Contender Pro Hunter like mine. I E-Mailed them about it fitting, and they said it would, but could require, "minor fitting". I've never heard of this with the barrels originally made by T/C. They went right on with zero issues. My .30-06 barrel fit and functioned just like the original .308 barrel that came on the gun when I purchased it new. I started reading, and read several people are saying the quality of some of the more recent SSK barrels were spotty when compared to the original Contender barrels that were manufactured by T/C. Have any of you guys ever experienced newer SSK barrels not fitting properly? If so, what were some of the issues you've experienced? I'm not looking to buy into a headache. www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/95639

Isn't that for the Encore rather than the Contender? The Contender will not take the pressure of the 308 or 30-06 rounds.

I'm not gonna buy further into the Contender and later bigger frames. I really do hope this effort to revive things happens and goes well. Soo...Lucy might really hold the football down this time ? Nice.
