I'm looking for a 1.75" belt at Simply Rugged.
Do you guys buy the "Real man's belt" - single layer of leather, or the laminated, double layer belt?
Will be used with one holster.
Thanks in advance.

I have three of the 1.75” Real Man’s Belts. Never had a problem carrying a handgun. Best wishes!

Wearing a single layer Simply Rugged belt today. Bought three 10 years ago. Wear the black one almost every day. Good Stuff!

Same here - single layer is plenty beefy to carry a handgun daily.

been carrying for 15 years... had a long belt experience reply going, then fat fingered a wrong key, & it disappeared... will admit that I like Robbs work, but haven't bought one of his belts...
I don't do any single layer belts anymore... in fact most of mine ( & I've nearly worn out some of those ) are double layer with a strip of Kydex in the middle... the split leather at the buckles is the weak link

Rob suggested the laminated belt for my uses. I've got 2. Both great.

Thank you all for your inputs. Sounds like I can't go wrong either way.

Haven't used Robs belt, but have found some double thickness belts a little too thick to fit a tight holster belt loop.

Haven't used Robs belt, but have found some double thickness belts a little too thick to fit a tight holster belt loop. Have found the same with holsters that use belt clips. Some double thickness belts are too thick for the clips to reliably grab.

I love Simple Rugged and Barranti leather goods and have a bunch stuff from both. However, if you live around any Amish communities, check out an Amish run harness shop. They have some great belts and other well made leather goods at extremely good prices. I got several excellent belts, both single and double thickness, that were blems (it took me over 5 minutes to find the blem, the owner said it took him about 15 seconds to spot it) and the cost was under $20.

I have a 1-3/4” double layer belt from Rob. Does the job nicely for a very reasonable price. I swapped out the buckle and edge coated the belt ‘cause I like ‘em that way. With the cost of good raw materials, I think this belt is a bargain. Fits easily in the belt loops on my Levi’s 501’s. Stout enough for heavy gun.

I wear a real mans single thickness belt. I've worn it for 2 years. It gradually developed an area where the leather is soft for about 12", right in the middle where my gun rides. It also has a lot more grain there. I contacted Rob about it and showed him pictures, and even though I've worn it like this a while and just put off asking about it, he offered to replace it. I wear the 1.75" width and it does just fine for wranglers as well as walmart house brand. The sections of the belt are still quite rigid, so I expect the replacement to hold up for many years to come. I carry my Blackhawk 44 special daily in a sourdough pancake holster.
