Thanks so very much for everyone’s thoughts and prayers. I showed this to my Mom and she was very touched (as am I) by y’all’s support.
The surgery went great! She had to have a mastectomy and it took a little less than four hours from the time we arrived at the hospital to when she was in a recovery room. That by itself was amazing to me.
Getting a room took about three hours, but the room she got was worth the wait. Her surgeon was not pleased that she was not in a room when he came to see her. He told us “give me fifteen minutes and let me see what I can do.” Well, within that timeframe, she was moved to a room in the maternity ward! I told her she had moved on up just like the Jeffersons 😁!! A very nice room with hardwood floors and a bathroom that was half the size of the room. I’m sure it was just what was available at the time but it was a very nice room to be in.
The initial test they did while in surgery showed that the cancer had not spread. They said that test was 85% accurate. We’ll get the main test results when she goes back for her check up a week from today. That will also let us know if she needs any further type of treatment.
She was able to go home on Wednesday after only one night in the hospital. She says she is in basically no pain which is great!! She’s tough I tell ya 😉.
She said to let y’all know that she appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers. My Dad and I do as well.
Y’all are a very special group of people!!!!

Chris, that is excellent news. Praying they got all the margins. My mom is 82 and just had a little cancer removed.
They tested and had gotten all the margins. She was back clearing land in a couple days.
Wishing your mom and family the best!!!

Thanks again for y’all’s thoughts and prayers! She is uplifted every time I show her this thread.
We got the test results back and there was no cancer found in her lymph nodes!! God is so good!!
The next visit she’ll find out if she will be taking chemo or not. She has congestive heart failure and the doctors have already said she couldn’t stand radiation.
Again, thanks for the thoughts and prayers. They have meant a lot to not only my Mom but also to my Dad & I.

Saw the oncologist and my Mom will have to have chemo. She’ll have her port put in Monday morning. The chemo will start on the 20th and will be once a week for twelve weeks. She’s staying strong and has a great attitude.

Chemo can be rough,, but adding radiation is even worse. Glad she able to not have to have radiation.
Keep us posted! We care.
