I know Doug used to post threads, ( sorry , can’t remember his forum name) about all his hats, & about places that “re-block” them… I have a Fedora, that my wife bought me ( supposed to be a “good one” ) that I wear when driving antique cars, or going down to the Surf Ballroom, that we do each winter on the anniversary of the “day the music died” The Fedora has a satin liner, with a heavy clear vinyl “top” inside.. . The hat is super hot to wear… I’m hoping to find a hat guy that could fix the liner, and make it cooler to wear…
Not sure if the vinyl is there to protect from sweat, and help the had keep its shape, or what???
I have a cheap straw Fedora, I wear in the summer… so I’m not looking to make it, something that is not…
Any ideas???
And any one seen Doug lately… kinda miss his posts

But you could have the liner set up so it's removeable and even add air vents to help. I had a custom made with no liner and an aeration pattern put into the top of the hat. Aside from that, straw hats with ventilation are even cooler. I have a 1910's Stetson derby with similar pattern: Basic golf hat:

Mike Miller at NW Hats is my go-to guy now. He could take out the old liner and save it for you, and see about putting in vents at the top and even on the sides of your fedora if the felt isn't too thick. www.northwesthats.com/541-515-0422 870 Pearl St. Eugene, OR 97401

This gentleman makes a very nice hat. I got a pure beaver Gus from him this fall. Not cheap but it's a good one. baldwinhats.com/

Black Sheep Hat Works stopped taking orders sometime back. Not sure if that has changed. I was quoted 12 months for my hat and it took around 23 months.
