I came up short on last year`s deer season, so I packed up the Jeep and headed to north central Pennsylvania for a visit to see my friends at Tioga Ranch. Set up the target pictured above at 100 to check the scope and those are the first two shots I fired from my S&W PC 460. That afternoon we tried to get onto two boar, but they hooked with a group of about 60 fallow deer who took off when we got within 100 yards. This went on until the boar had enough running and was able to get lined up at 70. Rested a half-filled leather sandbag along the side of small tree to brace the X frame and squeezed off a shot using that beautiful S&W single action trigger. I dropped `em with one of Hornady`s 200gr copper hollow point "handgun hunter" bullets.... Pretty spectacular.... I was really surprised finding pulverized bits of bone and some 1/4" pieces outside of the "entrance" wound that I had only seen once before when I shot a North Carolina doe using my 260 Remington XP-100 at 30 yards. Speed kills........ A neighbor had given me about 600 rounds of 9mm ammo, so he got a cooler full of fresh boar meat. Everybody was a winner... Congrats!!!!
I planned on trying to get out to that ranch to try my hand on those hogs.
