Tex, I have no problem with your findings. Different applications could be the slight difference we see. I only load for .41 through .45 calibers, so that could have something to do with it. N330 is very close to Unique, within a couple of percent one way or the other, and N340 is just slightly slower. I have not tried N110, but N105 max loads use roughly 25-30% less powder than the real slow ones like 296 and Enforcer, but gives within about 5% of the velocity with much less flash and unburnt powder.

Yesterday was choosing which sidearm to take to bear camp. To pack around camp, and to be in hand if trailing after dark. Oddly, but still a good choice, the 44spec NM Vaq Sheriff talked to me. I'm gonna put a cylinder full of old Copper-ized National Bullet 265 gr bullets thru it later. They called them SWC, but really more a LFN. Years ago they were popular for smacking steel. The first steel range around here yrs ago was near, maybe at the range of Contenders friend, Frustratedmiddlechild(Rugerforum). Ended up I never went. So those bullets kept, as bear deterrent written all over them. Think the last of them here are on 7gr of Longshot. It's early, data in basement, don't trust me on the 7grs !

My “go to” 44 Special load uses a cast bullet (Accurate Molds 431250TG with gas check sized to 0.430” and lubed with Larsen’s Carnauba Red) seated with a medium crimp in the crimp groove ahead of 7.1 grains of Unique and a WLP. In my 5.5” revolvers, this load makes ~950 fps with low SD’s.

9.0 grains of true blue in a starline case, cci large pistol primer, 245gr powder coat penta hp swc from a mp hg503 mold. it runs 1050fps out of a 4 5/8" ruger flatop and consistantly shoots an inch at 25 yards.
