I would think returning the rear sight and screws to original style parts would be easy. AND PROBABLY the front sight to.

The 2-1/2” M-66 occupies, for those who learn it, a performance strata shared by few compact pistols.
I’ve never seen those sights. For the factory red ramp, S&W molded plastic into a dovetail. Floor of the dovetail in drilled with two tiny holes to keep the plastic from drifting out. Perhaps the tritium insert is an interference fit, pressed in with a sight pusher. Question for the buyer: are the lamps bright enough to last a while?
As for marred screw slots, if the action feels right, it may be good to go. Sideplate may have been lifted to remove trigger stop, only. Chambers look to have minor .38 fouling. Strip-clean & lube not a bad idea. David Bradshaw

That sight setup (Tritium ampules) was a popular option among cops in the 80s. It was either Trijicon or Meprolight. My money is onTrijicon. I think a gunsmith named Trapper Alexiou out of Minnesota used to offer a set also.

Those sights are Meprolight. If they were installed according to instructions then the front insert was fit to the dovetail and loctite 609 retaining compound was used . I do not know what it would take to remove that. I installed a set on a 5 inch 686 for my dad 15 or 16 years ago. Every thing was still tight when he sold the gun. He wanted the tritium sights after having a hard time hitting a skunk a night using the truck headlights.
