It has just enough character. I'm not one for pristine examples of anything, preferring things which have earned their keep. I guess I'm like that about people too.
I find that gun much more attractive than any brand-new, shiny, pretty one, hands-down. I'd CARRY that one, collectible or not.

Beautiful gun...
About 15 years ago I received a PM over on the S&W Forums asking if I would be interested in buying a 6" 1952 Pre-27... Was going to turn it down as I really wanted a 5" made in my year of birth...
The Seller stated he had a letter from S&W dating the gun to May 21st...my next question was, "How much do you want for shipping"....because as the gun was leaving the factory for The Lawrence Holster Company in Oregon, I was being born 50 miles south in Hartford....
I later found a new in the package Lawrence 120 Keith holster to complete the package...
..what are the chances...

One of the best revolvers ever!!!! ...but S&W should have made one lousy change...the length of the cylinder. Basically all they did was have a fancied up Outdoorsman chambered in a cartridge 1/10" longer. If they had been thinking they would have lengthened the cylinder so there was minimal unsupported barrel shank sticking into the cylinder window. The .357 case could maybe even have been a little longer than it is now and still be able to seat a Keith bullet in the proper crimp groove instead of crimping over the forward driving band.... Bob

I'm a senior: I've forgotten the official name of the crosshatching on the top; but I do remember I really like it.
Outstanding !!!
