I was listening to Phil Shoemaker on Ron Spomer’s podcast and he said bring the ‘06 it works just fine on Brown Bear. He should know. Many an Elephant and Cape Buffalo have fallen to it with appropriate bullets also. It may not be perfect but it just plain works and ammo is everywhere. I spent a lot of years trying to avoid it even though I knew all long my father, uncles, grandparents and writers were right about it so I finally gave in

I can't pin down just one favorite they all were purchased with an adventure in mind. I love my Winchester 1886 in 45-70 I put a Lyman 66wb receiver sight on it and the groups shrank by half. I love a 30-06 and I always take my m-1 garand hunting at least a couple of times a year. The sights work especially well for most situations. And I flat wore out my remington 512 sport master 22. It has proven reliable for squirrels and bunnies for years.

Well: How can a person have a Favorite when maybe they only have one because of life which only allows them maybe just the one that dad or grampa, granny left or gave them. Maybe its one that was one that you had to scrimp for when the kids needed new shoes. Perhaps when things began to go your way and you had two or three and you could choose one that fit the job, like a wrench fits the bolt. Maybe if things have really gone your way you can get one cause it has such great wood ,is in a cal. you like and maybe you would like to pass it on to your kid who also love guns. Maybe a favorite is sipping a little beer or wine on the front porch eating some cheese and crackers and watching the sun go down. Have a nice day Don K.

As a handgunner I only own one rifle, and while it's fairly impractical, I am rather fond of it. My son is rather taken by it too, which means we're probably heading in the right direction...
