There's just something about modest, sensibly-sized knives that catches my attention.
I love knives which aren't forced to be everything for every circumstance. Something like that will do about everything I need t o do. Beyond that, a "boy's axe" takes over.
Details? Dimensions, materials, maker?

The blade is 3” to the hilt and knife is 7 1/2” overall. It handles nicely and is extremely sharp

Hmmm,.. don't know him, but I sure like his work. I love the lack of useless "cool stuff" on the knife and there is no decoration to distract the eye from the good workmanship. That's an incredibly useful size of knife.
EDIT: Thanks for sharing the details!

He hangs out on 24hourcampfire in the knife section and goes by Michiganroadkill. He makes some nice stuff and at reasonable prices. This one was $160 shipped

I do like the one you got more than the fancier ones he does. They look great, but I love the basic look. No pretty stuff to hide poor workmanship in something like you got.

I like the smaller blade when dressing a deer or hog

Like the trout/bird blades. A Gerber Pixie here rode many miles in a bird vest, fishing vest. Cold Steel and Opinel knives here fill that role too. None as beautiful and classy as your knife in pic above. Sigh..

The lowly Mora fills that role often, though maybe a slight bit larger. I love the B&T size - handles like a nice paring knife.
None quite as classy as the customs, but a good base to compare with for functionality when building a custom.

I stopped at Smokey Mountain Knife Works in Tennessee a couple moths ago and after looking at the prices of a lot of factory knives I think some custom knives are a bargain
