I had one of those!
It had a case-hardened frame - very nice-looking.
If you could overcome the horrendously heavy trigger pull, it was very accurate too.

We've had one in the family for close to 40 years. As stated above, the trigger is horrible but they can be accurate. In any case they are a bunch of fun.

As I think about it, I believe mine was a 949,... maybe. The only difference was the case-hardened frame, which was beautiful. I've always thought that the H&R revolvers had bit of an elegant look.
I did not know mine was DA until some time after I bought it.
Many years later, I bought a 4", swing-out DA H&R, nine-shot 22 LR. Externally, it looked like something the fell out of a dog's butt, but it was shiny and new inside. That gun shot as well as the OM Bearcats and Single Sixes in the family and you never had to worry about anyone coveting the ugly ol' thing. I sold it to a broke, young guy who wanted to get a revolver for his new bride. I wouldn't mind having it back. It was a good gun in spite of its looks. It had been kept in a milk-house for years, where it was very humid, so it looked like it'd been through a couple wars.
The old, ugly DA had a great SA trigger and a smooth, consistent DA trigger, a little heavy but not like the 949. I actually took it to a pin shoot once and did as well as I might have with my Ruger MKI. I never actually won those shoots unless I was the only one in the class anyway, but the H&R did as well as I was able to do.
