The Last Single Six

Now that David has stopped taking work I'm even more pleased to have been able to commission a build of this blue Single Six in .38 Special. Nothing really out of the ordinary with the build except the short grip frame that came on the Vaqueritos was installed to replace the aluminum frame for size and a better fit and finish. I can always bolt one of the lightweight ones on if I have a whim. Crescent ER rod head, the prerequisite sight set up with Bowen rear and a colored hammer finish the build. These 6 shot .38s form David will handle heavy 38 loads with aplomb. I need to get some better grips in. a hurry. these are just not worthy of the gun. Sorry about not wiping the gun down well before taking these pics but you get the idea...

Finally, a Family photo of Clements built .38 Special Single Sixes. The stainless gun was David's personal gun and used as a prototype for ffuture builds and has a 9mm auxiliary cylinder.

That short grip frame changes the feel more than you would expect. I like it. I have the same on my Harton built .41 Special Single Six.

Yup, David did the grips on your stainless .38 and the desert bighorn on Robb's .22 about the same time. We got on a Colt cylinder pin with Bisley hammer on single sixes kick for a bit, and he wanted to do his own grips on his single sixes. His grip work looks great to me. I really like Kelye's Colt pins. Those striped grips look like good candidates for a horn swap with Zane. Also, keep in mind, on the shorty grip frame, Ruger literally changed nothing but the length on the XR3-RED. The locator pin did not move, even though it should have because it's too close to the bottom on the shorty, but you can just take any set of XR3-RED, fit them up, scribe mark the bottom and cut them down and refinish if need be to get by for awhile if the stripers are awkward in hand.
