BACK IN THE 70's I LUSTED AFTER A 1955, IN A WOODEN DISPLAY BOX. BACK THEN THEY WERE AN EXORBITANT $350. I FINALLY GOT ONE AND STILL HAVE IT. I USED IT A LOT WHEN I FIRST GOT IT BUT HARDLY AT ALL IN THE PAST 40 YEARS. IT HAS GOOD THROATS AND IS VERY ACCURATE AND I LIKE OWNING IT AND PLAN ON DYING ITS OWNER. WHEN THROATED RIGHT THEY ARE EXCEPTIONAL REVOLVERS.

The Model 25-2 is what got me started in ACP revolvers. Here is one of mine with a S&W Model 1950, ACP, Target revolver. My newest quest is a S&W Model 1955 from 1955. Kevin

Fellows, nothing to be jealous about! Some of you like Single Actions 5 shots chambered for big cartridges. Some like Single Shot handguns chambered for rifle cartridges. I learned, decades ago, that I really enjoyed the ballistics of the 45 ACP cartridge but could not get the hang of the Colt Model 1911. Thank God, S&W came to the rescue (in WWI and to me) with the introduction of the S&W Model 1917!!!
I had a short fling with Magnums but found the45 long Colt loaded with black powder under a 260 grain cast bullet superior to the magnums for my hunting purposes. Cleaning a S&W Model 25-5 after firing such was less fun, so, what can be the ballistic duplicate of said black powder cartridge. Anyone? You in the back, yes you, the ponytailed fellow in camouflage. What’s that you said? 45 ACP? Give that man a ceegar!!!
Once I found the combination of cartridge and revolver I have not looked back. In 4 decades I have acquired quite a few and some have stayed around. I have also built or had built several to meet my expectations when factory offerings were not to be found.
But, if you say you are jealous, I understand and accept the compliment.
Kevin
