This came to me as a basket case. The barrel was cut with a chopsaw, literally, off square both ways, no front sight, no hammer spur and ugly combat stocks. Oh, and it had the butt rounded. It also came with a second barrel, 4 1/4” long. We were in the process of moving and my shop was packed up so I asked Andy Horvath to swap the barrels. Kevin

Andy also converted it to double action only, grooved the back strap, tweaked the action and worked his usual magic. A wonderful piece! Slightly different from my normal carry piece, it is a delight to carry and shoot. This is my preferred set up for revolvers. And in the new holster. Kevin

WOW! I could carry that 45 forever! Though, personally I would have rehabbed the shorter barrel and used it. But no taking anything away from your finished product, she's anice!

That made a very beautiful carry piece. Probably at home in the woods or alleys.
Congrats on that one...

WOW! I could carry that 45 forever! Though, personally I would have rehabbed the shorter barrel and used it. But no taking anything away from your finished product, she's anice! I have used N frames with 3” barrels and they do not sit comfortably on my belt. The extra 1” of barrel helps keep the stocks tight to my side Of course a proper holster is a big portion of keeping things tight and in place. Kevin

I happen to prefer and enjoy the 4”, N frame in 45 ACP. Here is one of my first, I built it in the early 70s using a S&W Model 1917 Brazilian as the base revolver. I had a supply of ACP barrels and shortened them as I needed them. Kevin

Why disable single action?

+1 on disabling the SA on this type gun... I do it to mine. Jim Collins led the way with 1500/1500 scores in registered competition in the late 70s. My first was a Ken Eversul PPC gun in the early 80s. Power Custom makes a good part set.

Why disable single action? Because I learned to shoot accurately with a double action trigger. When I shoot SA with a S&W revolver the results are larger groups. So, when the revolver came to me with the hammer spur removed, it just seemed correct for the conversion. Kevin

This statement caused me to think you had them converted to SAO and I could not understand why. ”…Oct 13, 2022 6:02:10 GMT -5 AxeHandle said: +1 on disabling the DA on this type gun...
