Why did they have to make it so darn ugly?

When they first came out I was actively hunting one at a gun show because no dealers locally would stock it. I finally found one for around $400 but I was starting to get away from 327 and I had other interests. Now I want an LCRX again and badly regret selling my 3” SP-101

I've got a 3" Adjustable Sights 38 Special +P. It's definitely not pretty. Nor, is it fun to shoot.
But, it does exactly what it was built to do. Carry light and stop what wants to stop you...

A 327 LCR HAS BEEN MY EDC FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, I CARRY IT IN MY RIGHT FRONT PANTS POCKET (NO HOLSTER). THE 100gr FEDERAL AE LOAD WAS UNCOMFORTABLE TO SHOOT IN THE LCR SO I USE SOME 85gr AMMO. IMHO, A GREAT CARRY GUN/CALIBER COMBO.

When I first got "into" .327 I bought most everything that was available.. Had one of the LCRs and an older SP-101 3" with the little windage adjustable rear sight blade.
Sold the LCR as it is only a carry gun and knew I would never carry it. The SP was very accurate and tough but was like shooting a brick. Much prefer a S&W 60-10 3" .357...
Ruger had the LCRX 3" in 9mm and .327 on the schedule but has put off making them because of the COVID crisis.
So maybe one day there will be a LCRX3" in .327...

I don't have a 327, but I grabbed a 3" 38 Special LCRX a few years ago for what I thought was a decent price - well under $400 new. I "gave it some time" to see if I would like it, but I gave it too much time. By the time I decided I wanted a LCR, the prices were well over what I'd paid for a new LCRX. Regarding the design, I agree that Ruger deserves some praise on this. The DA and SA triggers are good, right out of the box and it shoots well. Without trying too hard, I would say that this was the first Ruger revolver (DA or SA) that I have never touched in the insides of. I'm not complaining about having had to work on all previous Ruger revolvers I've owned, as I'd come to expect it and always knew exactly what to do, because I'd gotten a lot of practice. They were always easy to tune up and very predictable, but this one was a surprise. While the triggers are not as finely tuned as what I've managed on the ones I've worked on, they are so close that it's not worth doing anything to them. I've gotten past the ugliness, because it works so well. It's bulky, but it IS light. This seems a perfect platform for the 32s.
EDIT: I should add that I carry 3", 5-shot 357s. Even at 22 to 23 ounces, they can be "too heavy," depending on how the weather dictates that you dress. While t hey are lower bulk than the LCRX, the 3" LCRX weighs less than one pound.

I agree they're not pretty guns, but they are wonderful guns. I have a 22 and a 327, and love them both. The 22 is a novelty for me, but the 327 is a great carry gun where I live.
