Just picked up my new FN 5.7 MKIII. Seems like a really slick gun that shoots a nasty little round. 20 round magazines should make for a fun gun.

Just a little fun at a time with the price of those rounds. If a 9 will blow your lungs out those probably wouldn't do much.

I've shot the round out of the pistol and carbine. When shot at a puddle (about a foot deep) in the creek, there was little to no splash from a FMJ round from either. If you shoot a varmint or small game, I would be interested whether or not it is effective. BTW, while 20 rounds is exciting, the 50 round carbine mag is much more exciting... and hard to keep track of how many rounds you've shot. OK, I'm curious about just how effective the round is and how it compares with the 22 Mag...........

I would be interested whether or not it is effective. Here's an example of terminal effect from the 5.7x28 Single Six Head shot, detonated head, looks like a good bit of material was blown into body cavity which was blown open. The single "last thump" launched the ass end over a sage brush somewhere. I think what's there with the revolver is maybe an ear and part of a forelimb. The 35gr V-max was sent at somewhere over 2200fps Wasn't a big rabbit, but it was a spectacular ending. BTW, if you design a bullet and after treatment (coating or gas check or whatever) that'll hold up to 2k+fps from a tiny revolver, I'd be happy to run some of them through this wheelgun for effect.

This has already been done. Unfortunately, it is soldout. MP 227-640 Hornet, 3 Cavity HP Mold (GC Or PB) www.mp-molds.com/product-category/molds/hp-hollow-points-molds/page/4/And yes, it has that capability. The example I gave was with a FMJ slug.

Its a bit hard on the meat, for a small game grocery getter.

Its a bit hard on the meat, for a small game grocery getter. Easily handloaded down in velocity, and bullet selection can manage terminal effect I wonder how the autoloader would respond to reduced power ammunition

This has already been done. Unfortunately, it is soldout. MP 227-640 Hornet That little bullet looks handy For the 5.7x28 it would likely have to be sized down then coated if a fellow were to want to run it as a PC bullet I don't know how much room there is in the chamber for a fat bullet - definitely not like a hornet chamber Cool that it can be easily cast as a hollow point too I have some supply of an Armscor bullet that is used in their 22 TCM ammunition, a 40gr JHP that has a similar nose profile as that mould As for factory 5.7 ammunition with the FMJ bullet at velocities from the handgun, I wonder what the MV would be - I'm guessing it won't be high enough to have any kind of major upset on small game A flat point like that little cast bullet would be different Could be fun excursion for someone to handload small game ammunition for the autoloader that'll run through the magazine and cycle the action Necks are thin and short with this cartridge

MP 227-640 Hornet That little bullet looks handy For the 5.7x28 it would likely have to be sized down then coated if a fellow were to want to run it as a PC bullet The bullet will size easily.I don't know how much room there is in the chamber for a fat bullet - definitely not like a hornet chamber Try it in a fired case. Anything that will go in the neck can be loaded and function usually.Cool that it can be easily cast as a hollow point too I have some supply of an Armscor bullet that is used in their 22 TCM ammunition, a 40gr JHP that has a similar nose profile as that mould As for factory 5.7 ammunition with the FMJ bullet at velocities from the handgun, I wonder what the MV would be - I'm guessing it won't be high enough to have any kind of major upset on small game A flat point like that little cast bullet would be different With the hollow point, you can get about any performance you want.Could be fun excursion for someone to handload small game ammunition for the autoloader that'll run through the magazine and cycle the action Already been done.Necks are thin and short with this cartridge True, but no worse than the 5.7 Spitfire. Too bad it's out of stock. You can probably buy it from a custom caster as several of them buy MP molds.

Me.....I'll stick with my 5.7 Johnson Spitfire!! Are you running that in a revolver? Let's see it What kind of chronograph data are you seeing, with what loads?
