Triple-Lock (excuse me, 44 hand Ejector First Model or "New Century") .44 Special, S/N 5743. I'd wanted one of these for a long time, since I got to handle some of Taffin's at the Holiday a few years back. Got this one at CSA from Murphy, it reportedly started life as a 6-1/2" nickel-plated model. Barrel has been cut back to 3-1/2". Pretty nice re-blue, even if the S&W logo is about polished off the sideplate (must have pitted underneath the nickel there, as the barrel mark is still pretty nice). Jay Scott (I think) stocks. The front sight is WAY too low, shoots 6 to 12 inches high at 25 yards with Murphy's handloads of 225-gr Keith over 6.0 grs Unique. I'm going to see about Alan Harton milling the front sight base for a pinned-in blade, hopefully before the Holiday. Anyway, it's not collector-grade (if it were, I wouldn't have been able to buy it) but Taffin says it's nicer than the last couple he bought for more money so I guess I came out. I'm proud of it, my first Triple Lock.

I would never alter a gun like that, but if I did it would look like yours. Really neat old 44.

That was my thought as well. I LIKE the barrel length.

Not sure why, but fake stag looks good on old guns like yours and Great Westerns. On new revolvers, it looks cheap. Anyways, that's a slick Hand Ejector. I too like the barrel length. -Lee www.singleactions.com

So nice. I'd love to have one like that for a everyday carry gun.
