I recently sent 8 .45 caliber cylinders from my 5 Blackhawks and Vaqueros to Fermin Garza to ream the chambers. I could not get a .452 bullet through the throats. After Fermin received them, he measured them all and said they were all undersized. He had them only a few days and they were returned to me, freshly reamed. I have never really seriously shot groups for accuracy with any of the guns, instead preferring to get them sighted in and then go to town on a steel target rack. I hope to be able to bench them all and shoot for groups within the next few weeks. But I did go to my regular plate rack with all of the guns after I got them back from Fermin. They all shot great. Although I have no groups to show you, I can say that when we were discussing the cylinders before reaming, Fermin told me about a "lube star" that should appear on the muzzle of the barrel if the throats are sized correctly (at least that's how I remember it). Well, I did have the lube star on the muzzles of all my guns that had the reamed cylinders. I was pretty surprised that it was so noticeable, but there they were. I'm getting ready to also send him the two cylinders from my new Flat Top convertible to have them reamed too. Whenever I get to a chance to shoot again, I will shoot some groups and post them. Although I know I don't have reference groups for any of them to compare the post-reaming groups to, I'm pretty sure the guns will show that they are now pretty accurate. And I have to say one thing...Fermin Garza is one heck of a knowledgeable man when it comes to revolvers, and one heck of a nice guy to boot. He had no problem talking to me on the phone about my guns, and revolver function in general. I would highly recommend his services. ![](//storage.proboards.com/2842156/thumbnailer/BbKyvKTeQTjgjADRRYCg.png)

The best shooting Ruger I have is a 45 Colt that Fermin did the cylinder on. I just had him do the cylinders on stainless Bisley convertible. Haven’t shot it yet but I will this week.

Yep,, the lube star for cast bullets is a solid indicator of things done right. And Fermin,, while he hasn't had to do any of mine,, can & will fix them right up! I've never heard anything bad about his work.

I've had several cylinders reamed by Fermin. Excellent work from a truly great man.
Also love his front sights. His brass sight on my BFR is easier to pick up in the dim light of our Eastern woodlands. Especially against a black bear where a black sight disappears.

Got a call from Fermin yesterday and my .32 H&R Cylinder for Single Six #2 is in the mail and on its' way home. Can't wait to test it out. Single Six #1 has had all the throats honed to .314" since a couple were that size. The cylinder coming from Fremin is evened out for .313" bullets. How much difference can .001 actually make? When you shoot like I do, probably not a lot, but you never know. Would hate to have to get two different diameter bullets for the .32s and probably will not if the two guns shoot any where close to the same size groups. Am I over thinking this? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

Fermin went through gunsmithing school at Colorado School Of Trades & I'm pretty sure he could build a single action revolver from scratch if he needed to. Sights, triggers, cylinders, etc, he can do while he's eating a Burrito!

I noticed I used to get the lube star on my guns and couldn't figure out why I didn't notice them as much lately. Then I remembered I switched pretty much to powder coated bullets and well...

Fermin handled a cantakerous 45 ACP throat problem on a Blackhawk for me and it changed that gun from a 5" group at 20 yards to a 1-1.5 inch group at the same distance with an old man behind the sights.
That 45 Blackhawk went from regrettable purchase, to one of my favorites.
